FAQs

What is water filtration?

Water filtration is the process of removing unwanted particles, pollutants, and disinfectants from water to make it safer, cleaner and in some applications, less hard.

How do I know if I need a water filter?

If you have unpleasant smelling and tasting water, you could use a water filter. Ice machine manufacturers will not honor warranties if the equipment’s issue is determined to be water-related and it is not installed with a water filter. Hard water causes scale build-up that increases maintenance costs and downtime of equipment. Using the proper water filter can increase profitability, allowing your equipment to last longer and work more efficiently.

What types of water filters are available commercially?

Activated carbon filters, reverse osmosis, alkaline/water ionizers and UV filters are all types of filtration offered commercially. Activated carbon filters are the most affordable and do an excellent job of removing sediment and chlorine taste and odor.

What do commercial water filters remove?

Commercial water filters provided by Wilson Equipment Etc. reduce scale formation, cysts, bacteria, sediment, and chlorine taste and odor.

How do commercial water filters work?

Commercial water filters use carbon to remove chlorine taste and odor. Some filters treat for hard water, reducing the amount of scale build-up within the equipment.

What type of water filters do I use for ice machines?

Filters that reduce sediment, chlorine, taste, and odor which also have scale inhibition capabilities should be used for ice machines to limit unscheduled service calls and help equipment run efficiently reducing downtime and increasing profitability.

What type of water filters do I use for coffee machines?

Filters that reduce sediment and chlorine taste and odor which also have scale inhibition capabilities should be used for coffee machines to limit unscheduled service calls and help equipment run efficiently while providing consistent quality hot beverages.

How often should I change filters?

Filter cartridges should be changed every 6 months.

How can I tell if I am ready for a new water filter?

It’s time to change your water filter if you detect an odor in the water or it has an unpleasant taste.  If there is a gradual decrease in water pressure or your equipment shuts down completely, it could be time to change your filter.

How does reverse osmosis work?

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water treatment process that removes contaminants from water by using pressure to force water molecules through a semipermeable membrane. During this process, the contaminants are filtered out and flushed away, leaving clean, delicious drinking water.
